40 Lessons the Arts have Etched Unto My Mind

  1. Hearts cannot be Censored!
  2. Emotions are a tangible color scheme.
  3. Always march to the beat of your own drummer.
  4. Colors may bleed, but true colors never fade.
  5. Stories are meant to be spun and shared.
  6. Life is sculpted as you go–an ongoing process.
  7. Edit till your head and heart utter in unison: PERFECT!
  8. Always pencil in time to sip mocha with your muse.
  9. Paint murals with passion, you never know whose watching.
  10. Always recycle a flop.
  11. It’s alright to toot your own horn.
  12. Your breath is your ballad, your heart the beat, which contributes to community’s choir.
  13. The arts speak many dialects, yet communicate in the same method.
  14. If you don’t like the aroma uncap a Sharpie.
  15. Never destroy, when you can create.
  16. Thoughts etch verses, collected into stanzas produce poetry.
  17. Real art has a life of its own, once it’s been conceived.
  18. Never travel on paved roads.
  19. Instrumental tune-ups are key.
  20. Memory is a vintage photograph. Protect it. Cherish it.
  21. Be mindful of the selected location of your Canvas.
  22. When the flesh of your pieces shiver, add layers.
  23. Always keep your arsenal stocked with tools of your trade.
  24. Inspiration isn’t friendly to commitment, capture it and etch it into a notebook.
  25. Frowns can be painted over but the frown can still remain.
  26. Frolic in the landscapes of fellow artists.
  27. Art is the only entity that tickles all five senses and flirts with the sixth–simultaneously.
  28. Never fret when you notice your heart is tangled in a tantalizing melody.
  29. A blank page has no power over you.
  30. Minerals are priceless when sculpted in a heart’s expression.
  31. Love Write!
  32. Live Write!
  33. Laugh Write!
  34. Write a picture (“Show Don’t Tell”)!
  35. Paint the environment, don’t taint it!
  36. Use bold brushstrokes for realism.
  37. Make a pledge to get your hands dirty.
  38. Paint is thicker than water.
  39. Art is an umbrella keeping you dry from torrential rains.
  40. Your art is eternal; make sure your legacy is vibrant.

    # 24 Inspiration isn’t friendly to commitment, capture it and etch it into a notebook.

    I think of an Inspiration as a little spark that lights the creative fires. –If you don’t use it quickly or save it for the future, it may go out.

    • I share the same view. I cannot tell you how many times I’ve gotten an idea at a random spot and was either to lazy or unable to scribble it down–always thinking I’ll remember it. And of course I don’t 7 out of 10 times I forget. LOL!
