Ink Stained Heart

sultry night

Beneath a sultry moon

the night sways in granted light

to a thousand rustic violins,

serenity sweeps across a dusty dance floor

as the day lingers simmering into the dusk leaving only ashes.

    • @Josie, thank you. I was sitting outside on my porch one evening after a hot day and noticed the gentle calm in the air. I wasn’t really aiming to describe a summer barn dance but more of the transition between day and night in summer. It’s interesting how a poem takes writer and reader on a journey. =)
