Prompt Jar

Drastic Draft

Write “FREE” across the top of a page and just start writing. Don’t think! Don’t cross

anything out! Don’t worry about flow! It’s just you and whatever medium you’ve chosen

to write. When you feel that you’ve written enough or that your hand has given out skim

the piece. Figure out what to keep and what to throw away. Are there any parallels? Is

every verse different or are there some that fit together like pieces of a puzzle? Use these

striking verses for your prose or a poem. Save any that you didn’t cross out for another

piece and or write record them in your idea book.
