We interrupt our regular scheduled program er, post for the following observations…..
It’s been 4 days since the unfortunate ending to one of the most epic games in the Michigan and Michigan State rivalry. Being a Wolverine since I was 5, I have to admit that the end of the game hurt like heck but I found myself reflecting on the game just the same.
Leading up to the Michigan and Michigan State game I was watching both teams hoping that they’d come into the rivalry game having perfect or near perfect records and expecting a sort of grunge match between the two teams. I pretty much got what I had asked for… 😀
Today I decided to dedicate a post to a classic epic game and rivalry. These are a few things I believe we can all learn from last weekend’s game (MICHIGAN/MSU fans alike):
1.) If you play with all your heart, no defeat can sack your game!
2.) If you truly love your team you love them in spite of their mistakes or lack luster record.
3.) Recognize there are poor winners and there are poor losers but acknowledge that the game doesn’t decide the character of victory or defeat. The team and their fans DECIDE.
4.) A “sibling” rivalry is meant to bring out the best in both “siblings”.
5.) Mistakes provide more yards and inches in which to learn!
6.) Sometimes you have to learn to agree and sometimes you need respectfully disagree!
….And now that our sibling rivalry game is behind us and State is enjoying their miraculous spoils we can now focus on a foe that we both share…
